Anna Wojcik

“[Anna Wojcik] produced an accurate, mature sounding and nicely  characterised version of Zerlina’s second aria “Vedrai carino”. I haven’t  heard singing this good from someone so young since Emily d’Angelo burst  onto the scene. One to watch.” (John Gilks, Opera Ramblings 2019)
Anna Wojcik is a young Polish-Canadian soprano who has already performed for audiences across Canada,  the US, Poland, and Germany. Anna has won countless competitions including the 69th ACPC Marcella  Kochańska-Sembrich Vocal Competition, the Doreen Chaddock Memorial Vocal Scholarship Competition,  as well as the Oakville Chamber Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition. She has appeared with the Royal  Conservatory Orchestra, Toronto Sinfonietta, Camerata Ensemble, the Celebrity Symphony Orchestra, and  Karol Szymanowski Academy’s Baroque Orchestra.

Anna has performed many opera roles, most recently Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel at the Karol  Szymanowski Academy of Music and Prima Cercatrice in Puccini’s Suor Angelica at the Silesian Opera  House. Other roles include Annina in Verdi’s La traviata, and Nora in Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea with the Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, as well as Sister Osmina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Zweite  Knabe in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at The Glenn Gould School. Anna is the co-founder of the collective,  Nóżki Opera, in Toronto. Through this initiative, she organized, produced, and performed in various opera  productions aimed at first-time opera-goers. With Nóżki Opera, Anna has performed Königin der Nacht in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in an original English-language adaptation for a school opera outreach program  (2023), Madame Herz in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor as part of a bar production titled “Divas & Drinks”  (2022), Anne Frank in Cecilia Livingston’s song-opera Singing Only Softly (2021), and Susanna in Mozart’s  Le nozze di Figaro in a COVID-friendly outdoor garden production (2021).

Anna completed her Master’s studies in Opera at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice  under the tutelage of prof. Marta Brzezińska. She is also a graduate of The Royal Conservatory of Music’s  Glenn Gould School, where she studied voice with prof. Jean Macphail. As a first-generation Canadian,  Anna’s passion is discovering the little-known repertoire of Polish composers.
